Since the last release, Resume Hedgehog grew from smarter resume improvement into a full application toolkit β with a free entry point that needs no account.
In the last update, I focused on one problem: helping you close real gaps between your resume and a specific job. Fit scores, smarter questions, guided improvement β that loop is still the core.
Since then, I kept hearing the same follow-up: "The resume is better. Now what about the cover letter? The 'why do you want this job?' box? The links I paste into every form?"
This release answers those questions β and adds a free front door for people who are not ready to sign up yet.
Free resume fixes β no account required
Not everyone wants to create an account on first visit. Fair.
Resume Fixes is a standalone tool: upload your resume, get three copy-paste improvements in seconds. No signup, no credit card, no friction. You can drop a screenshot, upload a PDF, Word file, or ODT document, or paste plain text. The page reads your file automatically β you do not need to click a separate analyze button after uploading a document.
After analysis, you see three concrete suggestions β written so you can paste them straight into your document.
Resume Fixes is available in 20 languages. Switch the language in the header and the whole page updates, including the free tool at /resume-fixes.
From free fixes to a tailored PDF β one email
The resume-fixes page is also an on-ramp into the full product.
If you want more than three bullet edits, enter your email and click Download PDF for free. Resume Hedgehog creates your account, imports your resume into your profile, and opens your first job β then generates and downloads a tailored PDF automatically.
No extra clicks. No hunting for the download button on a dashboard you have never seen before.
It also builds trust: you see the full product working on your resume before you decide whether to keep going.
Cover letter wizard β culture first, then your voice
Generic cover letters are easy to spot. Recruiters spot them in seconds.
The new cover letter flow on each job page starts differently: paste text from the company's careers page or values section. The AI extracts what the company actually cares about β stated values, reasons people join β then walks you through a short rating wizard.
One value or motivation at a time. Rate how strongly it resonates on a 1β10 scale. Back and next. No wall of form fields.
When you finish the wizard, you get an editable draft grounded in the job, your profile, and the ratings you actually chose β not a template filled with buzzwords. Copy it, edit it, or Download PDF with a clean filename (your name only, no style suffix clutter).
Each culture analysis and cover letter generation costs one credit. Honest pricing for work that would take 20β30 minutes manually.
Application answers β one question at a time
Job portals love long forms. "Describe a time youβ¦" "Why this company?" "What are your salary expectations?" β each box wants a different tone and length.
The Answer questions tool on the job page handles them one at a time:
- Paste a single question from the application form.
- Click Prepare answer (one credit).
- Review, edit, save, or copy the result.
- Repeat for the next question.
The answers pull from your stored resume and the parsed job offer β same honest-data rule as resume generation. Nothing invented; you edit before you paste.
Your job page is now a small command center
Each job offer page gained practical tools that used to live in scattered notes apps and browser bookmarks:
Job page actions
Your links β eight URL slots for portfolio, LinkedIn, GitHub, and anything else you paste into every application. Auto-saves as you type.
Notes β private per-job notes for interview dates, recruiter names, salary expectations, follow-up reminders. Also auto-saves.
On the dashboard, jobs are now grouped by date β newest day first, with a count in each header. Easier to scan when you are applying to several roles in one week.
Upload more than screenshots
The resume-fixes tool and the main profile flow now accept PDF, DOCX, and ODT files β not just pasted text and screenshots.
Text extraction runs in the browser where possible (faster, more private). Server-side fallback handles edge cases. Legacy .doc files still need a save-as to .docx or PDF β old binary Word format is too inconsistent to parse reliably.
Profile settings also gained a Change password section for accounts created through the quick-signup flow (where a random password is assigned initially).
What stayed the same
The principles from the last release still hold:
- No fabricated jobs or invented metrics
- Credits, not subscriptions β pay when you are actively searching
- One credit per meaningful AI operation
- Your data stays tied to your account and your jobs
